If you are looking to start a rewarding career as a Support Worker you need the following qualification before you can apply!

Qualifications for Support Workers:

1. Education: Complete a Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33015) or a Diploma of Community Services (CHC52015) at a TAFE or Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

2. Licensing: Hold a current, unrestricted driver’s licence. Some employers may prefer specific licence types or access to a vehicle.

3. Health and Safety:

  • Ensure up-to-date immunisations.
  • Obtain necessary certifications and checks:
    • First Aid Certificate
    • Working with Children Check
    • Police Check
    • NDIS Worker Screening Check

Qualifications for Support Coordinators:

1. Education: Complete a relevant vocational qualification such as:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33015)
  • Certificate IV in Disability (CHC43115)
  • Diploma of Community Services (CHC52015)

2. Health and Safety: Obtain necessary checks:

  • Working with Children Check
  • Police Check
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check

Some employers may prefer you to have a driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.

3. Advanced Education: Consider completing a degree to broaden career options, such as:

  • Bachelor of Social Work
  • Bachelor of Human Services

4. Experience: Gain industry experience and enhance your resume by volunteering in social support or as a companion to those in need.
